Suonare Gin

Brand identity, art direction and print specification & production for Suonare Gin. Translated as ‘to play’ in Italian, Suonare is an artisanal small-batch gin created by Biggar Gin for Scottish Opera to celebrate their 60 year anniversary. 

Developing on an initial concept by Katrina High, the high and low notes of the gin’s 14 signature botanicals were arranged on a musical scale, which was then die-cut into the bottle label. When removed from the bottle and fed through a music box, the label plays Puccini’s ‘Un bel dì’, the signature aria from Madama Butterfly, which was first performed by Scottish Opera in its inaugural season.
